The news came as the United States sanctioned a Chinese technology firm and its Russian sister company, saying they are both controlled by North Koreans and provide revenue to Pyongyang.

"The US will continue to fully enforce and implement sanctions until we have achieved the final, fully verified denuclearization of North Korea", Mnuchin said. This article is strictly for informational purposes only.

The United States has accused Russian Federation of altering an independent United Nations report to cover up Moscow's alleged violation of UN sanctions on North Korea.

Haley said Russian interference "sets an unacceptable precedent that damages the sanctity of the United Nations independent panel reporting process".

The United States and other council members have said there must be strict enforcement of sanctions until Pyongyang acts. "Period", U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said in a press release.

The US in July had demanded without success an end to all oil exports to North Korea, citing satellite photographs and expert reports to claim illegal ship-to-ship transfers had allowed Pyongyang to evade sanctions over its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs.

The amended report removed some references to Russians accused of breaching sanctions on North Korea, said one diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity.

A panel of independent experts put together in early August a confidential report to a U.N. Security Council sanctions committee. MsHaley called for the initial version of the report - dating from early August - to be published.

"The full implementation of UN Security Council resolutions remains mandatory for all member states - including Russian Federation".

USA ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, blasted the panel for not doing enough to monitor sanctions imposed by Donald Trump, and "for caving to Russian pressure and making changes to what should have been an independent report".

The Russian news agency TASS quoted Russia's U.N. Mission as saying the proposed sanctions were "unjustified".

Meanwhile, South Korea's foreign ministry said that the latest USA sanctions appear to reflect Washington's belief that both sanctions and dialogue are important in achieving the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

"These actions are meant to stop the flow of illicit revenue to North Korea from overseas information technology workers disguising their true identities and hiding behind front companies, aliases, and third-party nationals", Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said on Thursday.

September 6, the US Treasury imposed sanctions against North Korean companies and citizens of the DPRK for conducting cyber attacks.
