Mexican star Alvarez produced a performance of guts and resilience to inflict the first defeat of Golovkin's career with a majority decision at the T-Mobile Arena.

Golovkin trainer Abel Sanchez accused Alvarez of running during the first fight and went as far to accuse the Mexican superstar of deliberately cheating following two-failed drug tests for the banned substance clenbuterol in February.

Triple G was disappointed again, with two judges scoring the fight 115-113 in favour of Canelo and the third had it at 114-114. The AP scored it 114-114.

The shot that has gained the most attention in the aftermath of the fight is Canelo's knockout blow that caught Golovkin right in the kisser. Originally, the pair fought past year in September in Las Vegas.

"He's so good with his feet and if one of them has got the boxing brain to change their gameplan from the first fight, then Golvkin has more of that".

It was a raucous sellout crowd inside T-Mobile Arena, the assembled masses holding their collective breath at times as the fighters exchanged blow after blow. "Canelo fought a great fight".

Trump rejects Puerto Rico hurricane latest death toll
Political officials from both sides of the aisle condemned the president's statements and said they believed the death toll. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who represents South Florida and is retiring from Congress, took the lonely route of rebuking Trump.

Many observers believed there was no room for argument for the bout going either way, but, in the end, the judges favored the youthful aggression of Canelo to the calculated experience of the masterful, but now defeated Golovkin. I think we controlled the fight with all the jabs. Golovkin came on strong in the 10th and 11th and set up a dramatic final round, in which the fight was on the line.

"As a boxer, as a fighter I will continue to do my job". We had good judges who saw it from different angles - I can't complain about the decision, but it's close enough to warrant a third fight. We won this fight.

And after landing a right to the body and left to the face in the final round, Alvarez ate two uppercuts in the closing 10 seconds as both fighters responded to the noise around them.

Alvarez said in the days leading to the fight that he went to bed every night visualising a knockout.

"If the people want another round, I'll do it again", added Alvarez, who improves to 50-1-2.
