Nintendo Online paid service starts next week, Nintendo Direct tomorrow

Nintendo fans were brimming with anticipation in the lead-up to Nintendo Direct on September 6, where the company was expected to reveal new games and info about its Switch and 3DS platforms. For example, we now know that Nintendo Switch Online is coming September 18.

NINTENDO HAS CONFIRMED that its long-awaited Switch Online service is arriving next week. We might hear about more games during the Nintendo Direct on Thursday.

There are two pricing plans: individual and family memberships. The Switch's library has quickly become a rival of those of the Xbox One and the PS4, despite being much younger and having been developed by Nintendo, which has historically struggled with third party appeal. They will become available for order as a special offer to online service subscribers at an undisclosed date.

They can be played locally and online with other people using the Joy-Con, but the original formfactor will no doubt feel and work a lot better with them. I'm not actually excited for Switch Online at all so far, but I also don't play any video games online. So...
