England manager Gareth Southgate has revealed that midfielder Dele Alli is expected to return from injury in time for Tottenham Hotspur's match against Liverpool after the worldwide break, according to Sky Sports.

England avoided a fourth successive defeat with a 1-0 win over Switzerland at the King Power Stadium but Marcus Rashford's goal was one of the few highlights of a forgettable occasion.

England fans took to social media to vent their frustration at the fact that the Manchester United forward was not given starting opportunities for England in Russian Federation.

Late on Tuesday night in Leicester, the England manager said he welcomed the prospect of having all three available, suggesting it was simply a case of tweaking his team to find room for a young Manchester United striker who so impressed against Spain and Switzerland. Indeed, how much a number of his players will perform when they seem to be on the periphery of their club sides.

"We could have been two or three nil down at half-time", said England full-back Danny Rose.

Eric Dier, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fabian Delph will start in midfield, while Danny Welbeck joins Rashford up front.

"So we have got to give Marcus time to develop".

I'm really pleased for him that he leaves here full of confidence'.

Frustration: Rashford has found opportunities at Old Trafford hard to come by. But actually if I am Pep I have other players, senior players, who I have to get up to speed because they haven't had many minutes. "We think it is important to keep encouraging him to keep running in behind teams with the pace he's got as well".

"We had a tactical problem to sort out and so many lads playing their first 45 minutes of the season", he added of the first-half display. And this resulted in many players taking home the prized cap, while how deserving they were of then being branded an "England international" has been open to great debate. 'But I think they will this month. To start the game is a different sort of feel, mentally it's different'.
