This was Shaw's first match for England since he was recalled to the national team by England manager, Gareth Southgate.

From there, Carvajal did not move for six minutes as the FA's medical staff attended to Shaw.

The left-back, who has been in great form this season, has not suffered any serious damage and will not be out for long, but the game against Watford has come too soon and United will not take any risks.

Meanwhile, Shaw himself took to Twitter himself to reassure supporters, writing: "Thank you for all the love and support".

Everyone will be hoping that the full-back can make a quick recovery.

The former campaign aide insisted his location in London meant his communications were conducted "99 percent over email". At the same time, he said he recognized that Papadopoulos had "genuine remorse" for "letting himself get caught up".

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw is in no rush to put pen to paper on a new contract at Old Trafford, according to a report. "I am a fighter, so I will be back soon".

"He's sat up in the dressing room talking and seems fairly comfortable", said Southgate. "We'll have to assess him a little bit more overnight and tomorrow, but that's definitely a good sign".

"It was a nasty looking fall and collision", he further added.

Gray comes in for Marcus Rashford who picked up a knock in the 2-1 defeat at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

"There is still one more global game to go before league action gets back underway, but personally I am already focused on getting myself ready for what's to come in the Premier League, Champions League and the League Cup, as during this rather busy month we will be playing in all three competitions", Mata added. And Rodrigo's 32nd-minute goal was the last of the match and enough to beat the World Cup 2018 semi-finalist.
