The attacker has been arrested by French police in the Quai de la Loire district, situated along the popular Villette Canal Basin.

A man, armed with a knife and an iron bar, attacked and injured seven people in Paris, France, on Sunday, AFP reported quoting the police.

Police erected a cordon and closed off the street in the 19th arrondissement of the city after the incident.

It also reported that four of those wounded were in serious condition.

"There were around 20 people chasing him".

Among the injured were two British tourists. They started throwing pétanque balls at him.

The hole, a 2-millimeter breach in the Soyuz MS-09, was discovered as the spacecraft docked in the Russian sector of the ISS. The hole is in a section of the Soyuz ship that is discarded in orbit and not used to carry people back to Earth.

Authorities were trying to determine if the attacker, who was arrested, is among the seven injured.

"Around four or five balls hit him in the head, but they weren't able to stop him".

A police investigation has been launched for attempted murder, according to a judicial source. "At this stage there is nothing to indicate that it could be a terrorist attack", an unidentified police officer told BBC.

It is the latest of several knife attacks France has seen in recent months, with terrorism being ruled out in most cases.

The man attacked three individuals outside the MK2 cinema complex, before attacking another four individuals.
