Tiger Woods reads the 12th green during the first round of the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club on May 3, 2018 in Charlotte, North Carolina. His best 9-hole score was a 28 in the 2007 Tour Championship, and his 29 on Thursday matched four other instances, most recently at the WGC Mexico in 2006.

Even as he was signing his card, Woods saw that Rory McIlroy was doing even better.

Instead, he missed the fairway on his next two tee shots, took bogey from about the same spot Woods was on No. 8, and those hopes were gone.

It wasn't easy for everyone.

Woods moved to seven-under par with a birdie at his 10th hole. Romo said that for Woods, the upcoming Ryder Cup is every bit as important as a major championship. The younger brother of US Open and PGA Championship victor Brooks Koepka also had a double bogey on the par-3 16th. A woeful performance on the greens has prompted Tiger Woods to spend considerable time practicing his putting after the second round at the BMW Championship in Philadelphia.

Burberry to drop real fur from fashion line
Tisci's first runway collection will not feature any fur, and the company will "phase out" existing fur products, Burberry said. It said the destruction of cosmetic items was a one-off related to the licence agreed with beauty company Coty past year .

McIlroy pared his 15th but three-putted for bogey both his seventh and eighth holes before a consolation birdie at the last.

It was the low round of the season for Woods, two shots under his closing 64 at last month's PGA Championship, and his lowest round in any PGA event since a 61 in the second round of the 2013 WGC Bridgestone Invitational - his most recent triumph.

Four early starters including 2016 Masters champion Danny Willett (66) were in a group at 6 under, trailing Tanihara by three.

The 14-time major victor Woods jumped out of the gates after teeing off the 10th hole, bagging three birdies in his first four holes before a stunning second shot from 242 yards into the par-5 16th hole.

But the longest putt he made on day two at Aronimink was six feet.
