The last time that Microsoft released a new Windows 10 Insider Preview for Insiders on the Skip Ahead subset of the Fast ring, it was on August 16 when we got build 18219.

The new policy builds on and extends the commitments made in February this year.

This fixing is taken up to ensure apps crashing will not be to the customer's fate anymore and also is affordable for the company, according to its data majority of applications won't break when customers move from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Windows 10 Build 17754 comes with fixes for Action Center, Microsoft Edge PWA integration, and more.

Responding to the feedbacks, Microsoft announced that all the now supported feature updates of Windows 10 Enterprises and Education editions will be supported for 30 months from their original date.

The change follows an open letter to Microsoft from sysadmins, who said keeping up with the twice-yearly feature updates to Windows 10 was causing them "fatigue". This should allow IT departments to test and deploy updates on their schedule. This includes current 1607, 1703, 1709, and 1803 versions, as well as all future feature updates in the Autumn time.

All feature releases of Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, and Office 365 ProPlus will continue to be supported for 18 months (this applies to feature updates targeting both March and September). The Windows Analytics service, which provides an overview of device health, compatibility issues, update compliance, and upgrade readiness, is being expanded to a new Desktop Analytics service. While October releases will be supported for 30 months, March updates will still only be supported for 18. To give a clear picture of the Progressive Web App, Microsoft even displayed in the I/O build how these apps will integrate with Windows 10 in the update.

Desktop App Assure is expected to launch in preview in North America on October 1. As a part of the Extended Security Updates (ESU) plan, Windows 7 will continue receiving security updates until January 2023.

Windows 7 hold-outs were thrown a lifeline by Microsoft today - as were administrators exhausted by the pace of Windows 10 updates. It'll be offered on a per-device basis, with the cost increasing each year. However, for an additional fee, users will be able to receive security updates for PCs running Windows 7.
