The end is just the beginning in American Horror Story's upcoming eighth season, which has finally gifted eager fans with a full-length trailer, offering a first look at the highly anticipated crossover season.

It's the eighth season of FX and Ryan Murphy's gothic anthology series, but whereas previous installments were able to stand on their own two feet (even if they had some recurring elements and characters scattered throughout), "Apocalypse" rips up the rulebook so that key figures from "Coven" and "Murder House" can inhabit the same universe.

The Emmy, Golden Globe and AFI Award-winning series from co-creators Murphy and Brad Falchuk aired its seventh season on FX a year ago. As seen in the trailer, a few actors are playing double duty - Farmiga, for example, can be seen as "Murder House's" Violet Harmon as well as the "Coven" witch Zoe Benson.

But also within this weird home are a smattering of familiar faces, including Coven's Cordelia (Paulson), Madison (Emma Roberts) and Myrtle (Frances Conroy) as well as Murder House's Rubber Man (Peters).

LA Prosecutors Decline Criminal Charges Against Kevin Spacey, Steven Seagal, Anthony Anderson
He was dropped past year from the Netflix television series House of Cards and erased from the film All the Money in the World . Prosecutors are reviewing a second case against Spacey that includes allegations he attacked a man in Malibu in October 2016 .

Of course, now we (kind of) know what to make of those mysterious teasers, what with the satan babies and gas masks. There's a shot of Cody Fern as a grown-up version of the Antichrist Michael Langdon, but no sign of Connie Britton's return as his mother Vivien.

Murphy said the upcoming season is 'unlike anything we've done, because there's a big hook to it'.

The new season of American Horror Story will debut on September 12.

Apocalypse also welcomes a group of newbies into the Horror Story family, including Dynasty legend Joan Collins, whose character endures a bit of turbulence in the trailer.
