Americans react to the death on John McCain

U.S. Republican Sen. John McCain, who spent six years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam, has died after battling brain cancer. "In the thirty three years we shared together, he raised me, taught me, corrected me, comforted me, encouraged me and supported me in all things", Meghan McCain wrote.

John McCain's family announced the news on Friday about his medical treatment.

Mr McCain died this morning surrounded by his family, according to a short statement released by his office.

"The First Lady and I hold his wife Cindy, his family, and all those who knew and admired him in our prayers, and join them in mourning the loss of a true American hero who I was deeply honored to know".

But in his address to the US Studies Centre past year, Senator McCain did not shy away from conceding that Mr Trump was "unsettling" American allies, or that there is a debate underway in the United States about its role in the world, its resolution uncertain.

McCain rebounded quickly, however, returning to Washington and entering the Senate in late July to a standing ovation from his colleagues.

"It is fitting that this war hero and history-changing legislator should leave us as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee". Republican strategists and donors have also discussed former Sen.

"A life lived embodying those truths casts a long, long shadow. He may have been my toughest opponent at one time, however his respect and dedication to public service and his love for Arizona, is something I strongly admire". As the son and grandson of four-star Navy admirals, McCain followed in their footsteps by attending the U.S. Naval Academy, where he continued to rebel against regulations and graduated near the bottom of his class.

Apparently, however, "the structure was vacant in recent years and was not used for business", according to the court documents. Officials believe the tunnel between San Luis, in Arizona, and San Luis Río Colorado, in Sonora, was used for smuggling drugs.

In his new book, McCain voiced regret for not choosing then-Senator Joe Lieberman, a Democrat turned independent, as his running mate. Though he often could have chosen the easier path in life, John McCain would never surrender his love of country. McCain later said he regretted picking Palin. After McCain criticized Trump's harsh rhetoric on illegal immigration, Trump disparaged McCain's military service by saying he preferred "people who weren't captured".

On Oct. 26, 1967, his A-4E Skyhawk was shot down during a bombing run over Hanoi.

McCain said in September that his doctors had given him a "very poor prognosis".

Trump was furious about McCain's vote and frequently referred to it at rallies, but without mentioning McCain by name.

US President Donald Trump might not be invited for John McCain's funeral, Reuters reported citing sources.

"On behalf of myself, Jill, and the entire Biden family, our sincerest condolences go out to Cindy, Doug, Andy, Sidney, Meghan, Jack, Jimmy, Bridget, and the entire McCain family".

The post also didn't go over well with Trump's critics, especially after the extended spat between the two and the continual digs the White House took at McCain, even as he was dying from cancer.
