The Brazil forward was one of a number of senior Blues players to fall out with Conte last season and posted a team picture after the FA Cup Final win in May on social media with emojis covering the former boss.

Up next for Willian and his teammates is the game against Arsenal at the Stamford Bridge this weekend.

"Would I be here if Conte stayed? No chance. No", he said.

"I'm here because I want to play for Chelsea", the 30-year-old Sao Paulo native said. "I will only leave Chelsea if they want to sell me". Willian featured from the outset of the match and he was impressed by the attacking football on show under Sarri. "We have just started. Players like that want to play football", Willian added.

'We always tried to be in control.

Although it isn't certain yet, it seems Willian will remain a Chelsea player for the remainder of 2018. We are just in the beginning. "We know we have to improve".

He also said Conte had been very hard to work with, and speculation that he might leave Chelsea rumbled on throughout the summer with Barcelona and Manchester United both harbouring serious interest in signing him. Now we have to continue, because next Saturday Arsenal is waiting, a great game, and we want to win.

"I'm here", Willian said.

Luiz revealed last week that he is "in love" with Sarri's more technical, expansive style of play - an approach that requires all of Chelsea's defenders to readjust to a back four after two years of playing in Conte's 3-4-3 system. This is what we will try to do this season.

The Brazilian worldwide, despite being one of the London club's key players last season, appeared to fall out of favour with his former manager towards the end of the campaign.

Luiz was only handed 10 appearances last season under Conte and nearly ended his career at Chelsea after barely playing in the second half of the season and is linked move to Chelsea and Arsenal in the summer.
