Satyameva Jayate pulled off plenty of stunts in its box-office debut on Independence Day - and not just the ones featuring its leading man, John Abraham's Vir, a scud missile of a man who goes on a vigilante spree across Mumbai, ritualistically murdering crooked cops.

Reema Kagti's Gold had a strong opening day and managed to clock around Rs 25.25 crore at the box office. The combined total collection of both the film is Rs 45 crore.

John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate has also made a decent start, aggregating Rs 20.52 crore and Rs 7.92 crore on first and second day respectively.

Bollywood Khiladi Akshay Kumar's latest sports drama "Gold" has managed to hit the bull's eye at the Box Office. "Yes, the box office is on fire". Apart from Gold and Satyameva Jayate, Ranbir Kapoor's highly successful Sanjay Dutt biopic Sanju, Salman Khan's Race 3, and Tiger Shroff-starrer Baaghi 2 round up the top five opening day numbers.

Also starring Manoj Bajpayee and Amruta Khanvilkar in pivotal roles, "Satyamev Jayate" is a thriller drama. Expectations are that the film will cross 100 crores mark in its opening weekend and there will be no surprise if the film also becomes Akshay Kumar's highest grossing film beating Rowdy Rathore. Both the films that released on Independence Day managed to do well on the box office, after a lull of nearly a fortnight.
