McDonald's offering chance to win McGold Card, free food for life

In response to McDonald's new Mobile Order and Pay, the restaurant chain is giving customers the chance to win McDonald's for life. (MCD) is giving away one McGold Card away in a contest that assures the victor "free food for life".

To enter, customers can either order a meal using the McDonald's app between August 10 and August 24, or enter via email, as the official rules stipulate that no purchase is actually neccessary.

McDonald's says they will do a random prize drawing "on or about" August 29, 2018.

The campaign starts on August 10 and runs through August 24.

More than just free burgers, fries, and nuggets for life, the McGold card also includes a customized 24-carat golden phone case to mark the lucky person's membership into the history and mystery of McGold Card lore. "You have a much better chance of winning a state lottery than picking something like this up".

The McGold Card, like Bigfoot is a unusual and mysterious beast. Each time they use Mobile Order & Pay to order, they will gain another entry.

The victor will be alerted via email or on their McDonald's app.

For the coffee giant's fourth annual sweepstakes, which ended in January, five US winners won the grand prize, worth up to $56,575 each, entitling them to a free beverage or food item of their choice once a day for 30 years.

Since then, a small select number of McGold Cards have been given out to notable figures, ranging from the governor of MI to the king of Sweden.

McDonald's franchisees across the country sometimes offer local heroes free food with their own versions of the card. To enter send "an email to with only the date (mm/dd/yy) you are sending the email in the subject line and your first/last name in the body of the email".

Nevertheless, entering the contest takes a minimal amount of effort and it could earn you a whole lot of McDonald's.
