Star Trek 4 In Trouble?

According to THR, Paramount contends that Trek is not like a Marvel or a "Star Wars" movie and is trying to maintain a strict budget. The consensus reads, "Star Trek Beyond continues the franchise's post-reboot hot streak with an epic sci-fi adventure that honors the series' sci-fi roots without skimping on the blockbuster action".

The report claims that Pine and Hemsworth, who are both making big money in the DC and Marvel Universes (as Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman and Thor in the MCU respectively), are asking studios to stick to deals they insist they have in place.

Spiner and Urban seem to be having a bit of fun at the situation, but fans of the Kelvin timeline films may be a bit more nervous about it. Star Trek 4 was expected to be a father-son time travel tale involving Pine's Captain Kirk meeting his dead father, Hemsworth's George Kirk.

The main issue here is that the scenario seems to hinge on the casting of both Pine and Hemsworth. Star Trek 3 only grossed $343 million on a $190 million budget. Paramount is like "hey these movies don't make as much as you think" and they're like "we're both named Chris" and the two opposing viewpoints were not able to meet in the middle.

Giles said the spotlight on the animals, while itself disgusting news, has already led to skyrocketing worry about their plight. It could be that the animal is starving, or some other disease process is resulting in them not wanting to eat, Dr Hanson said.

Star Trek 4 may look a lot different to its predecessors - and not just because of improvements in CGI.

The Next Generation alum Brent Spiner, who played the android Data, heard the news he playfully responded that he too was walking away from Star Trek 4, tweeting "Me, too!"

It has been claimed that Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth have walked away from negotiations on the sequel, with talks of a deal falling through. The actor signed for Star Trek 4 even before he shot Star Trek Beyond in 2015.

Hemsworth meant to return by time travel as Kirk's father but also chose to exit. Or, attempt to bring the involved parties back to the table in hopes of a deal that would put them both into the intended roles. It's a fair point that Star Trek Beyond lost money, but the entire point of this upcoming film was to unite the Kirks for the first time.
