Huddersfield 0-3 Chelsea: Premier League highlights and recap

World Cup victor Kante's scruffy 34th-minute volley and Jorginho's audacious penalty on the stroke of half-time put Chelsea in control before Pedro wrapped up the points in the closing stages. Then, on the stroke of half-time, Marcos Alonso was hauled down inside the box and Jorginho made no mistake from twelve yards out.

But manager Mauricio Pochettino has insisted he is happy just to have retained a host of players who excelled at the World Cup and it was two of them who handed Spurs all three points at Newcastle.

Huddersfield, too, can take heart from the performance, certainly in the first half.

Italy worldwide Jorginho passed home a fearless penalty in the 45th minute as Maurizio Sarri earned his first competitive win at the helm after his team went down to Manchester City in the Community Shield last weekend, while fellow debutant and the world's most expensive goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga started with a clean sheet.

Like Wolves, Fulham earned rave reviews for their summer business, outspending United and City, in signing 12 new players.

"This was a goal that was easily avoidable because we have spoken about this situation the whole week, how we like to defend, and we have seen we have to be switched on". Debutant Jorginho stepped up and coolly dispatched after a slow approach.

Huddersfield goalkeeper Ben Hamer can do nothing to keep out Jorginho's penalty for Chelsea. This would have been one for Huddersfield, but it is still early.

But it's either Morata or Olivier Giroud after Chelsea failed to sign a striker in the summer transfer window. Jorginho stepped up and cooly found the back of the net.

At the same time, they did enough to unsettle Chelsea in attack, smartly deploying their numerous physical players and targeting Cesar Azpilicueta at right-back in particular. You can't switch on against a top-quality team like Chelsea. But things do look bright at the back for the Terriers.

But the 17-year-old was left out of the matchday squad altogether, with Pedro and Willian starting out wide and Hazard and Victor Moses the options from the bench.

As we know, Kante is not known for scoring goals but he's kept up his record of scoring at least one goal in a Premier League season by getting off to a flyer this afternoon.

But with a good start to the season so vital for Sarri at his new club, it is understandable why he wanted to rely on more senior players as David Luiz also started over Andreas Christensen in central defence.
