Chilwell insists Maguire won't quit Leicester in January

Manchester United's search for a centre-back took them from Leicester and London to Munich and Madrid.

Manchester United reportedly turned down the chance to sign Harry Maguire from Hull City last summer for a meagre sum of £15 million.

The fee for the 25-year-old central defender was around £75million this summer but the report adds that United were unwilling to spend that much for Maguire.

Leicester paid £12 million rising to £17 million in June a year ago for Maguire, with United opting to pass on the opportunity to bring the player to Old Trafford.

In addition to keeping two of their major stars Leicester were also busy bringing in new blood signing centre-backs Caglar Soyuncu (Freiburg) and Filip Benkovic (Dinamo Zagreb) for a combined £29million on the final day of the window.
