Across the state of OH, 35 counties reported West Nile virus activity, including positive mosquito tests and cases of the virus in humans and horses.

The patient's zip code was 75229, which is in Northwest Dallas just south of 635.

Use insect repellent when outdoors; a repellent with DEET or Icaridin offers the most effective protection. Other strategies to avoid West Nile Virus are wearing light colored, long and loose clothing, draining all standing water, and limiting outdoor exposure during dusk and dawn.

Dallas is not alone in reporting West Nile virus cases.

The CDC says that most people infected with West Nile virus do not develop any symptoms.

The press release said that from the first confirmed West Nile infection in 2012 to the end of 2017, a total of 574 infections were reported in Serbia, 61 of which were fatal.
