Space Force to Become Sixth Branch of Armed Forces

The usual suspects, China and Russian Federation, are the threats the president is looking to combat. "Under President Trump's leadership, we will meet it head on - to defend our nation, and build a peaceful future here on Earth and in space". The Air Force, many have argued, is now amidst ongoing combat operations in multiple theaters, and as such, will always prioritize today's mission over tomorrow's threats.

The final report addressed White House concerns about the Pentagon being sufficiently clear that reorganization efforts are aimed at creating a separate service. Besides civilian uses, the military is also highly dependant on satellites.

First, the report calls for the creation of the U.S. Space Command, a new unified combatant command for space. But proponents say the proposal is meant to be a serious response to threats from other nations-including Russian Federation and China-to us military and commercial operations in space.

While China launched a missile in 2007 that tracked and destroyed one of its own satellites, Russian Federation claims to have tested aircraft-deployed missiles that can take down satellites. Although it was a test, it has caused another space hazard to satellites in the form of debris.

On Tuesday, however, Mattis expressed full support for creating a new US Space Command. The Air Force, the service which handles most of the military's current space operations, spends some $8.5 billion a year on space-related endeavors, and plans to invest another $44.3 billion in space systems over the next five years. "He was a kid watching "Space Force" on NBC", Kimmel said before Willard appeared on the program in character.

The US already has some space fighting capabilities, with long-range missiles to satellite tracking.

United States launches airstrikes as Taliban attack Afghan provincial capital Ghazni
The attack followed a similar assault on Farah in May, when fighters came close to overrunning the city in western Afghanistan. The Taliban frequently exaggerate their battlefield gains and downplay losses incurred during fighting.

"China and Russian Federation have been conducting highly sophisticated on-orbit activities that could enable them to maneuver their satellites into close proximity of ours, posing unprecedented new dangers to our space systems", he said. Many are wondering that same thing.

The Space Force would be responsible for a range of crucial space-based USA military capabilities, which include everything from satellites enabling the Global Positioning System (GPS) to sensors that help track missile launches.

Vice President Mike Pence urged Congress to establish a sixth branch of the military dedicated to space in a speech that outlined the emerging threat of American adversaries turning space into a warfighting domain. A fact Trump has not acknowledged. Thursday morning Pence did, claiming the White House has been reaching out to lawmakers for bipartisan support. Two House of Representative members, Alabama Republican Mike Rogers and Tennessee Democrat Jim Cooper, have already pledged support.

Trump marked Pence's announcement with a tweet: "Space Force all the way!" With the end of shuttle missions in 2011, America pays Russian Federation to launch United States astronauts into space.

On MSNBC's "The Beat" with host Ari Melber, retired four-star Army General Barry McCaffrey explained exactly why "Space Force" is a bad idea. Minutes later, however, when he declared American military personnel who focus on space operations and systems "the best", they reacted with loud applause. "And so we will".
