Although, this myth gains traction around the time of a total solar eclipse, some people refuse to cook or eat even during partial eclipses. Solar eclipse will start at 01:02 pm PST.

It can also be seen over northern Canada, northeastern US, Greenland, Scandinavia, Siberia and some parts of central Asia, according to Nasa.

Canadians will only be able to spot it early in the morning in Nunavut, but the rest of the country - and the entire US - will be out of luck. Never look at the solar eclipse directly as it could blind you or lead to severe eye damage.

What is a solar eclipse? The first solar eclipse this year was in February.

A partial solar eclipse visible to major parts of the northern hemisphere will start in the early hours of August 11, Greenwich Mean Time, according to United States space agency Nasa.

House of Fraser set to fall into administration
For the year ended 28 January 2017, the House of Fraser group had gross assets of £946.3m and made £14.7m net profit. It is not clear what will happen now to those stores and their workforce following the takeover by Mr Ashley.

A solar eclipse happens when the moon comes between the Earth and the sun, casting a shadow on the planet. Just over a year ago, millions across North America were anxiously awaiting the "Great American Solar Eclipse" of August 21. After one of the longest Lunar Eclipse/ Chandra grahan on 27 July, India is all set to witness the next eclipse of the year on 11 August.

People are also advised not to eat during solar eclipse. You'll have to wait until January 21, 2019 for the next eclipse. As the moon passes in between the sun and the earth, the angle will be such that the centre of the shadow of the moon will not fall on the Earth so the effect won't be as dramatic.

What time is the solar eclipse?

The moon will cover approximately 73% of the sun when the eclipse is at its peak, according to NASA.

If one want's to capture the event on camera, either for photo's or video's, they should add a special solar filter for protection.

At the same time, the Moon's shadow appeared to move over Iceland and parts of Northern Europe and the North Pole. If done otherwise, it will still remain a good idea not just limited to solar eclipse.

According to the American Astrological Society (AAS), partial solar eclipses can be very unsafe to look at with the naked eye. It is referred to as "partial" because the moon does not block the entirety of the sun, when witnessed from the earth. Instead, they suggest the "Pinhole Projection" or the "Optical Protection" methods for viewing safety.
