Tommy Fleetwood got paid more than $150,000 in prize money from last month's British Open.

After finishing 12th at the Open Championship in July, Fleetwood was set to earn $154,000.

The European Tour issued an apology to the rightful Fleetwood and restored the payment of £119,971. Well not the world No11 anyway.

Fleetwood went to his local Wells Fargo on his way home from work and instructed them to redirect the money back to the European Tour.

After receiving a message from Greg Thorner, a golf instructor in New England, it appears that Thorner's friend - another golfer that's named Tommy Fleetwood - had actually received the 29-year-old Englishman's payout from his excellent performance at Carnoustie.

Argentina's Senate rejects legalizing abortion, in Pope Francis' homeland
The proposed legislation would have allowed abortions during the first 14 weeks of pregnancy for women and girls as young as 13. An activist in favour of the legalisation of abortion reacts outside the National Congress in Buenos Aires.

"My friend Tommy is caddy at the Streamsong Resort in Central Florida and I was with him there today when he received a notification on his cell phone", said Thorner.

Fleetwood's wife and manager, Clare, admitted they did not know it had been paid into the wrong account until they were told about Thorner's tweet.

The European Tour said: "This was a clerical error which we are resolving and we apologise for the inconvenience caused to both parties". "I emailed them back and I said, 'Well, I plan on sending it back, but you've got to excuse me that I'm not going to send it to this thing you're sending me randomly in email". It's a amusing story.

He laughed off the incident after being asked about it following a practice round, saying: "I honestly didn't know anything about it".

It took me about an hour to get that sorted out, and I have plenty more stories like that. I wouldn't even know if I'd been paid or not because I don't really look.
