The Holy Fire was one of several blazes burning across California that have displaced tens of thousands. He also faces sentencing enhancements for arson of multiple structures.

Fire crews are working in 38C heat and three firefighters have been injured in the 16-square-mile blaze.

Teresita Reyes was among some 20,000 people under evacuation orders, saying she was attending a wedding Wednesday when she received the order to evacuate.

Michael Milligan, chief of the Holy Jim Volunteer Fire Department, told the Orange County Register that Clark had a decade-long feud with neighbors and sent him threatening emails last week, including one that said, "this place will burn".

The team has not confirmed that any structures have been destroyed since day one of the fire on August 6 when approximately 12 structures in Trabuco Canyon were destroyed.

The fire is burning through steep, mountainous terrain filled with dried-out shrubs that are ideal fuel for the blaze.
