New Raptor Kawhi Leonard 'looking forward to next chapter,' thanks Spurs

White, who has a good chance at starting this season with the departure of both Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green in the trade to Toronto, said, "I'm super excited for the season to start".

He says he and his family (re: Uncle Dennis) want to thank the Spurs organization and "the people and fans of San Antonio".

Leonard thanked Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and added: "I'll always be grateful for my growth under your guidance".

Shortly after a meeting between Leonard and Popovich, the Spurs moved the two-time National Basketball Association defensive player of the year to the Raptors.

Multiple reports indicated that Popovich and Leonard met in June but were apparently unable to fix the relationship between the club and the two-time defensive player of the year.
