It was a not-so-veiled shot at Cam Newton, which led to a curious scene ahead of Thursday's preseason game between the Bills and Panthers.

Kelvin Benjamin made some strong comments last weekend about the Carolina Panthers and their quarterback, Cam Newton.

Newton tries to shake Kelvin's hand. but Benjamin turns it down.

During individual warmups about an hour and a half before the game, a photographer from The Charlotte Observer captured Newton approaching Benjamin as he spoke with former teammate and current Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis.

The conversation continued until Benjamin said something to Newton that had Newton gesturing that he was finished with him. The receiver, who spent three years in Carolina, trashed Newton.

Benjamin had plenty to say in an interview that came out last Saturday, calling his tenure in Carolina a "bad fit from the get-go" and speculating he might have been more successful had he played with "any other quarterback". "Looking back on it, I should've just been drafted by somebody else", Benjamin recently told The Athletic's Tim Graham.

Things likely won't get much better for Benjamin in Buffalo, as he'll be catching passes from either A.J. McCarron, Josh Allen or Nathan Peterman.
