Baker Mayfield’s First NFL Preseason Game Is Over

The Browns starting QB Tyrod Taylor completed all of his five passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.

"I thought he did some good things out there", Cleveland coach Hue Jackson said. The excitement began with the Browns' first snap, as Tyrod threw a handsome pass to Jarvis Landry up the left sideline, good for 31 yards.

The Browns also have said they would consider veteran wide receiver Dez Bryant, but a source tells ESPN's Anderson there is an impression that Bryant is not seriously interested in playing for the Browns. In two drives, Taylor went 5-of-5 for 99 yards, including a 36-yard TD down the seam to TE David Njoku (more on him shortly), for a flawless passer rating (158.3). The drive displayed Tyrod's efficient passing, his ability to communicate with the inexperienced crew around him, and that he's capable of leading this offense.

On defense, Leonard Johnson had a tough night surrenduring two touchdown passes and multiple catches when he was in coverage. After getting those first drive jitters out, Mayfield imposed his will on the Giants in this drive.

Watch the best goals and skills of new Everton signing Bernard
Both the club and the player agreed earlier this summer that a fresh start was needed. Everton have confirmed the signing of Brazil global Bernard on a free transfer.

Mayfield was up next and, following a three-and-out, settled in on his second series, finding Rashard Higgins with a pretty back-shoulder throw on the sideline for a 26-yard gain.

It's only the first preseason game, but the Baker Mayfield hype train is running like a well-oiled machine. He converted another third down with his legs, then a 4th & 2 in the red zone by scrambling.

One of Baker's favorite targets throughout the night was fellow rookie Antonio Callaway. But after an exchange of possessions, Taylor took the Browns 66 yards on four plays for the first touchdown of the game.

Saquon Barkley knows how to deliver. Afterward, the Giants tried to put a positive spin on the evening, pointing to a run defense that allowed just 50 yards on 33 carries. It definitely was Le'Veon Bell-esque.
