For those who don't know, Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker were set to star in City Of Lies, a thriller chronicling the unsolved mystery of The Notorious B.I.G's murder.

Global Road Entertainment - which has so far released action movie Hotel Artemis, canine comedy Show Dogs and romantic drama Midnight Sun in 2018 - had previously set City of Lies for a September 7 bow. Open Road initially was to distribute the film, but when they dropped it, Global Road picked it up.

Representatives for Furman, Depp, and Good Film Productions did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Depp has also been under fire for his involvement in the upcoming Warner Bros.

Fetus found in bathroom of American Airlines flight out of Charlotte
The discovery was made several hours after Flight 1942 touched down in NY from Charlotte, North Carolina. A spokesman for American Airlines said that the incident is under investigation.

Depp, who faced accusations of domestic violence in his divorce from Amber Heard, previous year generated controversy for another film he's attached to, "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald".

No official reason was given, though the now low public opinion of Depp has apparently made getting the film publicity hard.

Releasing a movie starring the actor in this sort of climate of heavy scrutiny - particularly one which doesn't... As a result, it's unclear when or if the film will be officially released.

The first trailer for City of Lies, formerly titled LAbyrinth, was released in May. Also complicating matters is a lawsuit against Depp from this film's location manager Gregg "Rocky" Brooks, who says "he was repeatedly hit by Depp after being informed that filming that night in downtown L.A. was going to have to wrap late". The film was directed by Brad Furman.
