Acosta has previously complained that "people are developing their impressions of us by watching "Hannity" and so on, and I say, 'Hey, you know, give us a chance".

Among the most freakish findings by Aaron Blake: The media don't think Sanders should be "choked", they just want to "wring" her neck.

Ivanka Trump, the president's daughter and a White House aide, said at an Axios event on Thursday that she doesn't agree with the "enemy of the people" tag.

The journalist then told Sanders of president's daughter Ivanka Trump's statement where she said she didn't consider the press "enemy of the people" and urged the press secretary to do the same. "You did not say in the course of those remarks that you just made that the press is not the enemy of the people", he said.

Donald Trump supporters have been filmed hurling sustained abuse at journalists following one of the USA president's "Make America Great Again" rallies.

"That being said, I think we talk too much about it because I think that the common decency piece of this has less to do with the press and more to do with everything".

"I'm very anxious that the hostility whipped up by Trump and some in conservative media will result in somebody getting hurt", Acosta tweeted.

"It's ironic, Jim, that not only you and the media attack the president for his rhetoric when they frequently lower the level of conversation in this country", Sanders responded.

Sanders went on to cite an incident in which she was asked to leave a Virginia restaurant and said that, to her knowledge, she is the first press secretary that has required Secret Service protection.

Sanders refused to distance herself from Trump's assertions, saying the president "has made his position known".

"I am totally saddened by what just happened", he wrote on Twitter. It suggests she knew that she was going to be asked about Trump's views on the media, she had talked about it with the president, and they decided not to back down, even on the basic question of whether the media contributes a public good to USA democracy. She correctly said no. "But no, I do not feel that the media is the enemy of the people".

He continued: "You mentioned my former boss, Senator McConnell, and I don't think he has had lunch in three weeks without being heckled by a crowd of anti-ICE protestors who are trying to disrupt his lunch and everybody else's there". "You made it clear where you stand yesterday".

Here's the video. Sarah Sanders is asked multiple times if she believes the media is the enemy of the people.

Trump and his administration have accelerated their attacks on the press in recent weeks amid a flurry of headlines enveloping the White House. Yet, when the news media called him out on the many lies, or "fake news" he was spouting, he turned his attention to working up his core supporters in a way that has not been seen in our country in many, many decades.
