French rookie and 2016 GP2 champion Pierre Gasly has meanwhile impressed at Toro Rosso and, with previous experience racing for Red Bull's new for 2019 engine partners Honda, could be in line for a promotion. But Ricciardo was seemingly unable to convince Ferrari that he would suit driving alongside four-time champion Vettel, who was his partner at Red Bull during the 2014 season, and admitted he expected more interest from the Italian team.

It will be interesting to see if Red Bull's team orders now favour Max Verstappen, who will be their main driver from next year.

At Renault, though, he is more likely become the star figure ahead of teammate Nico Hulkenberg and therefore, that may have swayed Ricciardo's decision.

"It was probably one of the most hard decisions to take in my career so far", Ricciardo told the Renault website.

"I think it's thrown a spanner in the works for some other teams but we've got a plan which we are executing against which Ricciardo's move doesn't impact", he added.

'Daniel has secured seven Grands Prix wins and stepped onto the podium 29 times. Drivers outside of those three teams are fully aware that they have no realistic chance to contend for victories.

Daniel Ricciardo's Formula One future has finally been clarified.

Authorities believe the teen left a bicycle and walked to the lemonade stand before the robbery. The boys father tells FOX 46 Charlotte that the suspect got away with $17.

Daniel Ricciardo says his switch from Red Bull to Renault for the 2019 Formula One season is one of the toughest decisions he has made in his entire life. "We've got nine races left to kick some ass, so let's get it".

Renault team president Jerome Stoll said the signing underlined their ambition: "Renault chose to come back to Formula One to fight for World Championships". We welcome Daniel's arrival to our team, still in the making, but more motivated than ever.

"Daniel's signing underscores our determination to accelerate our progress towards the forefront of the sport", he said.

The vacancy at Williams could then have gone to another Mercedes protege and Formula Two leader George Russell, whose route now looks less certain - unless Force India's Mexican driver Sergio Perez also moves. "We will have to repay his faith in us by delivering the best-car possible", he said.

The decision made by Ricciardo has been interpreted in several ways.
