Tiger vs. Phil $10M match to be Thanksgiving weekend

Woods is now -2 in the first round of the WGC event at Firestone, returning to the course to compete for the first time in four years, having previously won this tournament on eight occasions.

According to ESPN, the showdown is scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend either Friday, November 23 or Saturday, November 24.

The news comes just a month after Golf.com's Alan Shipnuck reported that plans for a match between the two golf legends had fallen through after a potential date had been set in July.

Mickelson now sits in 10th place of the Ryder Cup standings while Woods is 20th.

That same year she released her autobiography " The Facts of My Life ", co-written by her son Larry Strauss. Rae left after its seventh year, however, explaining later, "I needed some time for the rest of my life".

Mickelson, 48, won the WGC-Mexico Championship in March, marking his first PGA Tour win in five years. Mickleson saying, "Now, I don't know if he wants a piece of me, but I just think it would be something that would be really fun".

The two star golfers have had a contentious relationship during their careers, though they have been brought together recently due to a variety of factors including on-course struggles and appearances representing the United States at the Ryder Cup.

"The excitement that's been going on around here, it gets me thinking: Why don't we just bypass all the ancillary stuff of a tournament and just go head-to-head and just have kind of a high-stakes, winner-take-all match?", he said then.

Both make up the U.S. Ryder Cup committee along with 2018 captain Jim Furyk; Woods is a vice captain for Furyk and in contention for one of the four at-large picks.
