"We have taken it down for glorifying violence, which violates our graphic violence policy, and using dehumanizing language to describe people who are transgender, Muslims and immigrants, which violates our hate speech policies", Facebook said in a statement.

Facebook has unpublished four pages belonging to conspiracy theorist and far-right radio host Alex Jones for "repeatedly posting content over the past several days" that violates the social media platform's community standards.

Mr Jones has been widely criticised for repeating conspiracy theories that the 9/11 attacks in NY were staged by the U.S. government. The company removed the Alex Jones Show along with five other podcasts produced by the organization, its entire lineup except for Real News with David Knight which remains active in the Apple podcast directory.

"While much of the discussion around InfoWars has been related to false news. none of the violations that spurred today's removals were related to this", it said in a statement.

The spokesperson added the company "does not tolerate hate speech, and we have clear guidelines that creators and developers must follow to ensure we provide a safe environment for all of our users".

Most of USA conspiracy theorist Alex Jones's podcasts from his right-wing media platform Infowars have been removed from Apple's iTunes and podcast apps, the media news website BuzzFeed quoted a company spokesman as saying on Sunday.

He has also promoted a theory that the Sandy Hook massacre was faked by leftwing forces to promote gun control.

The Infowars podcasts removed from iTunes include The Alex Jones Show, War Room, and Infowars Freedom Nuggets. The shooting killed 26 children and adults at the elementary school in CT. It also suspended the personal profile of Jones.

This is the first time a blanket ban has been imposed on Jones, who is now being sued by parents of children murdered in the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting for claims that the attack was a hoax.

InfoWars did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent outside business hours. YouTube took down four videos from the Infowars channel, which was also slapped with a 90-day suspension from live-streaming. Those claims have resulted in harassment directed at Sandy Hook families and supporters.

'Spotify can confirm it has removed specific episodes of 'The Alex Jones Show´ podcast for violating our hate content policy, ' a spokesperson said late Sunday. However, Facebook said that wasn't why it banned InfoWars and Jones.
