Donald Trump Calls LeBron James, Don Lemon Dumb

According to NBC News, Jordan released a statement through a spokesperson that said, "I support LJ".

But in yet another blow for the President, Jordan came out in support of James, saying he's "doing incredible work for his community".

"Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon", Trump tweeted late Friday.

This week, LeBron James opened The I Promise School, a fully-funded public elementary school catering to 240 at-risk teenagers in Akron, Ohio.

President Trump slammed LeBron James this weekend, questioning the National Basketball Association great's intellectual prowess - but first lady Melania Trump had nicer things to say about the newly minted L.A. Laker, and so did Hillary Clinton. He made Lebron (sic) look smart, which isn't easy to do.

James is considered by many to be the greatest player in basketball history, rivaled by Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.

LeBron James drew the backing of sports, media and politics personalities after he was insulted by US President Donald Trump.

But one major comment that may have sparked Trump's outburst was James' response when Lemon asked if he'd ever want to speak to the president.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a Republican, defended James in a tweet, praising the star's philanthropy and his I Promise school, and wading into a long-running debate as to who's better: LeBron or MJ.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders did not return a request for comment, nor did James' agency Klutch Sports Group.

The tweet from CNN PR alluded to Trump's insistence that he does not watch Lemon's show - or even CNN. It said: "I support LeBron James".

James has not tweeted about Trump's reaction, at least not explicitly.

Mr. Trump is traveling to OH on Saturday for a campaign rally. By the way, all-around he's better than Michael Jordan.

When Tony Schwartz appeared on CNN last November to discuss Donald Trump's Twitter feud with LaVar Ball, he noted that the president is "frightened by black people".

The missive, sent from the White House at 10:37 p.m. Friday night, delivered nausea to decent people.

This is not the first time that Melania Trump has publicly broken from her husband on his more controversial issues.

Other NBA players came to James' defense.
