DraftKings Beats Competitors To The Punch With Mobile Sports Betting App Launch

DraftKings CEO and Co-Founder Jason Robins has stated via Twitter, that the sportsbook app represents one of DraftKings most important product launches.

The Stars Group is the parent company of PokerStars - the biggest online poker website in the world. "Working with our longstanding partner, Resorts, we are really excited to introduce a brand-new consumer experience by bringing New Jersey fans closer to the sports and the teams that they love".

DraftKings on Wednesday, in partnership with Resorts Casino Hotel, became the first to accept mobile sports bets - but only on a limited, invitation-only basis.

Not to be outdone, Caesars Entertainment announced that its Caesars Casino & Sports mobile app, combining its online casino and sportsbook, will be "coming soon" for bettors in the Garden State.

Accelerating its U.S. sports betting proposition, DraftKings has launched its New Jersey mobile app, bringing digital wagering to the Garden State.

MGM has yet to release an official statement of Murren's comment.

"I think the opportunity for innovation is just massive (with mobile)", Jason Robins, CEO of DraftKings, told ESPN. Players in New Jersey must download an app via Android or iOS device and wait to be invited by the brand before betting. Also, because the app is linked to a player's daily fantasy account, DraftKings Sportsbook provides a carousel of relevant wagers based on a player's habits from previous DraftKings actions.

The Stars Group also recently successfully completed the acquisition of CrownBet and William Hill Australia, which combined form the third largest online sports betting operator in Australia, the world's second largest regulated online gaming market.

GVC Deal: The two companies are beginning a joint venture to create a sports betting platform for use across the US. GVC is known in the United Kingdom as being owners of famous bookmakers Ladbrokes Coral, which has been in operation since 1886.

Bettors have been placing sports wagers at various New Jersey casinos and racetracks for almost two months.

On the ground, MGM already operates a sportsbook out of Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Boasting a prime location spanning 11 acres at the northern end of the famed Atlantic City Boardwalk, the resort features 942 guest rooms and suites in two hotel towers, an 80,000-square-foot casino, two theaters, 10 restaurants, a food court featuring five eateries, two VIP slot and table player lounges, a casino bar, indoor-outdoor swimming pool, health club and spa, salon, and retail shops. Borgata's real sportsbook is still under construction, but having simply a sportsbook open (in the place of their old Racebook) means they're allowed to being online operation under New Jersey law.
