Arsenal sign Uruguay's Lucas Torreira

Arsenal have completed the signing of Sampdoria and Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira for a fee in the region of £26m. I feel calm. I am used to coping with this kind of thing in the best possible way.

Torreira will wear the No 11 shirt that Mesut Özil occupied until this summer, with the German instead set to be wearing the No 10 shirt vacated by Jack Wilshere, now at West Ham.

Emery will take charge of his first game since replacing Wenger when an Arsenal XI faces Boreham Wood in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

The Uruguay global featured in five games at the 2018 World Cup and headed to London for a medical after his country was eliminated by France in the quarter-finals. After a handful of appearances in his breakthrough season, he became a more regular part of the first team past year.

Unai Emery was appointed as Arsenal's new manager in May and he has now signed five players with Matteo Guendouzi being the latest player to join the new hierarchy at the Emirates Stadium. I want to become part of the club's history and to achieve great things.

Manafort trial opens with fiery charges from both sides
Manafort and Gates were the first two people indicted by a grand jury, and Manafort is the first to go to trial. Unlike his former colleague Rick Gates, Mr Manafort has not co-operated with the special counsel investigation.

Southampton's only January signing was the club-record deal for Monaco striker Guido Carrillo - a player that has already been shipped out to Leganes on loan.

Torreira is Arsenal's fourth arrival of the window after goalkeeper Bernd Leno, centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos and right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner.

The 22-year-old will now enjoyed an extended holiday after he featured prominently in Russian Federation and Emery can not wait to start working with his most expensive signing of the summer.

"He wants to learn and improve and will be an important part of our first-team squad". I am really looking forward to starting this new adventure.
