In those areas, the totality of the lunar eclipse - when the moon will retain its red color - will last for about an hour and 42 minutes.

Often referred to as a blood moon, a total lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth moves directly between the sun and the moon. This day will also be a 'Blood Moon, ' where the earth's satellite takes on a reddish hue.

"The moon is always in flawless line with the Sun and the Earth, so we don't get a lunar Eclipse in every lunar cycle, said brad Tucker, an astronomer at the Research school of astronomy and astrophysics at the Australian national University". A "blood moon" and lunar eclipse are coming Friday!

"A partial eclipse precedes and follows the total phase of eclipse, each time lasting 1 hour and 6 minutes".

The total lunar eclipse on July 28 can also be viewed from South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. "At 23h13 the moon starts recovering from the eclipse, which will be over by 24h19", ASSA says.

If you were on the moon when the total eclipse occurs, you would see a red ring around the Earth.

"It was widely known as Super Blue Blood Moon as it was a so-called supermoon, when a Moon appears extra big and bright being closest to the Earth in its elliptical orbit".

All of this is easily visible with the naked eye.

But Friday's lunar eclipse has reignited Evangelical interest in a possible link between the event, the Jewish state, and the apocalypse. Other objects will also be visible Although not as distinct as Mars, other planets will also make an appearance in the night sky.

He explains "So the Lord said "you need to go check it out" and I did and I found out it's the longest Blood Moon of the century". A fraction of those are total lunar eclipses.

On January this year, Indians were lucky enough to witness the Supermoon in its full glory. "While more common than the solar eclipse, the event is nonetheless fairly unusual, with even partial eclipses rarely happening a few times or twice per year and each is only visible from a portion of the Earth." 3.

This month, Mars will be at its closest to Earth since 2003. The shortest total lunar eclipse of this century, which occurred on April 4, 2015 only lasted 4 minutes and 48 seconds. In one of the sky's wonderful coincidences, the Mars opposition happens on July 27 too.
