Ryan opposes GOP effort to impeach Rosenstein

Eleven House Republicans have introduced articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

The lead sponsors of the impeachment resolution are Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina and Rep. Jim Jordan of OH, who are co-chairs of the House Freedom Caucus, report the Washington Post, the New York Times, BuzzFeed News, NPR and the Hill.

"Rod Rosenstein has been in charge of the Department of Justice as the agency has made every effort to obstruct legitimate attempts of congressional oversight", Congressman Mark Meadows said in a statement.

'It's time to find a new deputy attorney general who is serious about accountability and transparency, ' he added.

The Justice Department said it had no comment.

On Wednesday, Meadows said he could file a privileged motion to force a vote on the resolution to remove Rosenstein from his position. A vote on impeachment would be a public loyalty test for Republicans. Mark Meadows (R-NC) and his colleague, scandal beleaguered Jim Jordan (R-OH), spread like wildfire on social media Wednesday evening.

It's unclear if there will be an immediate vote.

Ryan made clear at his weekly news conference that he thought impeachment was a step too far.

The biggest unmet demand is providing lawmakers access to unredacted documents related to the Clinton investigation, which falls under the House Judiciary subpoena, the officials said.

But despite overwhelming evidence, Mohamed Sultan, the director of International Gardens Park, has denied it is an imposter. For starters, their ears were bigger and their snouts were lighter than those of the typical zebra.

"The mountain of evidence against Rod Rosenstein is very compelling when you look at the extent to which documents and witnesses have been withheld", Gaetz said Wednesday on Fox Business Network.

"This is partisan nonsense", she said. You can read the articles of impeachment here.

Rosenstein oversees special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian election meddling and possible ties to the Trump campaign.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the Department of Justice's inquiry into Russian meddling in the us presidential election because of his involvement with the Trump campaign. Sessions played an important role in that campaign.

For impeachment to begin, Meadows and Jordan would need the support of a majority in Congress.

In addition to stonewalling the GOP subpoenas, the impeachment resolution faulted Rosenstein for signing one of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant renewals on Carter Page, and refusing to turn over scoping memo.

Some argue, however, that attempts to impeach Rosenstein are merely an attempt to "sabotage" the Mueller investigation.

With the five-week House summer recess, Rosenstein - and Mueller - now get some breathing room after weeks of pressure and criticism.

The articles read: "As such, his conduct in authorising the FISA surveillance at issue in the joint congressional investigation makes him a fact witness central to the ongoing investigation of potential FISA abuse". Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Peter Strzok was even caught exchanging thousands of text messages with former Federal Bureau of Investigation lawyer Lisa Page that showed a clear hatred for the president.
