Prince Harry and Elton John launch global Aids prevention organisation

The coalition was founded by Elton John AIDS Foundation, the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, Unitaid, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, Johnson & Johnson and Gilead Sciences.

Over 15,000 politicians, policymakers, activists, researchers and advocates from more than 160 countries will be in Amsterdam this week for the 22nd International AIDS Conference, where they will share new research and learn from one another about better ways to combat the disease.

His comments came as he launched further funding from his AIDS Foundation for local partners working in the region during a major global Aids conference taking place in Amsterdam this week.

Speaking at the conference, Prince Harry explained: "What we have learned is that we succeed when we put people at the heart of our strategies".

According to the Daily Express, the project will launch in Africa next year, where men will be encouraged to self-test for HIV to help stop the virus spreading.
