Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump have agreed to continue their "useful contacts" and may meet by year's end, a Kremlin aide said today, as tensions rise in Washington over the direction of the U.S. leader's Russian Federation policy.

". What the White House has disappeared from the official US government record of that meeting, both in print and in their video of the meeting, is President Putin answering in the affirmative when he's asked if he wanted Trump to win the election".

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday (Wednesday NZ Time) claimed, without evidence, that the Kremlin will support Democrats in the November mid-terms, debuting a new line on Russian interference as the uproar over his shifting stances on the issue enters its second week.

The poll results come just over a week after Trump stirred controversy at a joint news conference with Putin by challenging the USA intelligence community's assessment that Moscow meddled in the 2016 election. The intelligence community said Russian Federation interfered with an aim of aiding Trump.

The invitation sparked a new outcry, including from lawmakers in Trump's Republican party, who argued that Putin is an adversary not worthy of a White House visit and that they still did not know what the leaders had discussed during their two-hour, one-on-one meeting.

"If it were me, I'd check the soccer ball for listening devices and never allow it in the White House", wrote South Carolina Republican Lindsey Graham on his Twitter account on July 16, the same day that Trump received the 2018 FIFA World Cup model soccer ball from Putin.

McConnell declined to back up a tweet Trump sent Tuesday suggesting any potential Russian interference in the fall midterm elections would be created to favor Democrats.

‘Game Of Thrones’ Final Season
And even that isn't much of an update, as the show typically premieres in late March or early April. Just saying the words " Game of Thrones " in the right crowd can start a riot of excitement.

Still, Trump's tweet Tuesday is the US president's firmest confirmation to date of ongoing Russian attempts to interfere in the USA democratic process.

In a country where state media portrays Putin as a seemingly infallible leader, even some of his supporters were fretting that he may have made an error by appearing to demonstrably take Trump's side. "I thought it was premature". "The offer was conveyed by US National Security Adviser John Bolton".

"This is one possible explanation for why the White House transcript and video from Helsinki doesn't include Putin saying he wanted Trump to win", she tweeted.

He did not rule out that the possibility that Putin and Trump could meet on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Argentina and other worldwide forums attended by both leaders.

The president was hit with further criticism after his return to Washington with the announcement that he had invited Putin to visit the White House.

With an eye on US mid-term elections in November, a bipartisan group of senators is pushing the "DETER Act" legislation putting Putin on notice that his country would be hit with more USA sanctions if Russian Federation interferes in future polls.

Trump's supporters in Congress on Wednesday said they were giving him the benefit of the doubt on apparently rescinding his invitation to Putin.
