Apple Is Releasing 70 New Emoji Including One for Redheads

Apple is celebrating the occasion by giving users a look at the new emoji characters headed to the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac later this year.

There will also be bald, grey, ginger, and curly-haired faces added.

New food emojis will also debut in the update, featuring mooncake, mango, cupcake and even bak choy. There's also a "pleading face" with big eyes and a blushing smiley face surrounded by three hearts.

Thousands of emoji are now available on iOS, watchOS and macOS, including emotive smiley faces, gender-neutral characters, various clothing options, food types, animals, mythical creatures and more.

More than 700 million are used on Facebook posts each day, with the biggest day being New Year's Eve (December 31, 2017) that saw the highest amount of emojis shared on both platforms.

Facebook now has over 2,800 emojis available for use, and some are more popular than others. Popular emojis include faces representing various emotions, animals and love hearts.

World Emoji Day is the global celebration of emojis and this day is celebrated with different emoji events and product releases. "Honestly, there's nothing better than when someone who might have seemed a bit aloof via email sends an emoji and you can breathe out, knowing we're all just humans after all".

The new emojis include a new list of animals, including a kangaroo, peacock and lobster.
