Liverpool have completed the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri, the Merseyside club announced on Friday.

Shaqiri knew of Klopp's style long before he took the reins of the Reds - from 2012 he was part of the Bayern Munich team battling with his Borussia Dortmund side in the Bundesliga. Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané shouldered the bulk of the work last season and 26-year-old Shaqiri offers an alternative given his versatility on either flank.

Stoke City were relegated from the Premier League last season.

"I'm very happy for him that he had this lovely season because he is a very nice guy, a good guy".

Shaqiri told liverpoolfc.com: "I'm very happy to be here".

Matt Le Tissier has reacted to Xherdan Shaqiri reportedly being on the verge of joining Liverpool. "He gives us greater flexibility in how we can use our current players also", said Klopp.

'He joins a dressing room of really good lads and I know they will welcome him with open arms and help him settle and integrate quickly'.

Shaqiri won the Champions League during his time at Bayern, while he collected a trio of Swiss Super League crowns at Basel, and the midfielder is targeting more titles having switched to Anfield to play under Jurgen Klopp. He had an wonderful season last year and I hope he can do it this year too.

"We are the flawless move for him in this moment as well I think, because he needs to push himself and challenge himself and our environment encourages that". I'm really happy I'm finally here. "That's what I'm here for".
