"This is the most diverse class of performer nominees we've had ... which is fantastic", Maury McIntyre, TV academy president, said Thursday after the nominations for the September 17 awards were announced.

All three Lannister siblings were also recognized, with Lena Headey earning her fourth Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role as Cersei while her on-screen brothers Peter Dinklage (Tyrion) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime) picked up Best Supporting Actor nods.

Lead actor in a drama series: Jason Bateman (Ozark); Sterling K Brown (This Is Us); Ed Harris (Westworld); Matthew Rhys (The Americans); Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us); and Jeffrey Wright (Westworld).

HBO's Westworld received 21 nominations, while the seventh season of Game of Thrones received 22 nominations. The last time there were three freshman series in the top comedy category was 2010 (Modern Family, Glee and Nurse Jackie).

Just five years after the launch of its first original series, "House of Cards", Netflix ended HBO's 17-year streak as the most Emmy-nominated network. NBC shows earned 78 nods.

While other streaming services didn't do as well as Netflix did, Hulu was nominated for 27 awards, and Amazon Prime was right behind them at 22 - most of which are from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Betty Gilpin was the only performer to score a nom for a first-year series, scoring supporting comedy actress for "GLOW".
