Stormy Daniels, the porn star who has said she had an affair with U.S. President Donald Trump, was arrested while performing at an OH strip on Thursday, but the charges were dismissed and her lawyer called the arrest a politically motivated setup.

Avenatti says Daniels has received a misdemeanor and they will be contesting the charges. She was due to be arraigned Friday. Daniels had been accused of touching police officers, including the breasts and buttocks of a female officer.

Police arrested adult film actress Stormy Daniels - real name Stephanie Clifford - on Wednesday night at a Columbus, Ohio, strip club. "We will fight all bogus charges", he tweeted, including a hashtag for the word "basta" which is Italian for "enough".

Police alleged Daniels pressed her breasts into the face of a patron who turned out to be an undercover officer and also fondled two other patrons, landing her in jail for violating an OH law that prohibits an employee who regularly appears nude or seminude from touching patrons on the premises of a sexually oriented business. A violation is a misdemeanor.

Daniels, 39, filed a lawsuit against Trump and his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, late a year ago, seeking to invalidate a nondisclosure agreement that she says barred her from speaking about the alleged affair.

"Are you kidding me?" he asked.

Avenatti blasted the arrest as a "politically motivated sting" and a 'ridiculous use of [police] resources'. "There has to be higher priorities!", he added. Cohen has confirmed he made the payment.

Columbus police said Daniels' arrest wasn't a first.

There were no drawn-out points in the early going, no lengthy baseline exchanges, essentially because Ostapenko wouldn't allow it. Williams won that encounter 7-5, 6-3, and leads the head-to-head 6-2, including 2-1 at Slams.

Avenatti told that Daniels had been performing on stage when she was arrested.

"I deeply apologise to my fans in Columbus", the statement read.

Daniels - real name Stephanie Clifford - is suing Trump and his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen to nullify a 2016 non-disclosure agreement preventing her from speaking out about the affair she says she had with Trump in 2006.

A person who answered the phone at Sirens declined to comment.

Avenatti confirmed to Fox News that his client was arrested just after midnight Thursday.

The Columbus Dispatch reported that the law, in effect since 2007, is seldom enforced.

Earlier this week, Daniels performed in Washington at the Cloakroom, located about halfway between the Capitol and the White House, minutes before President Donald Trump announced his Supreme Court nomination. After Stormy's performance, she and the other 2 were arrested at the same time.

"This was a complete set up", he said.
