The police chief in Ohio's capital city says the actions of officers who arrested porn star Stormy Daniels will be reviewed.

Charges were dropped against adult film star Stormy Daniels on Thursday after an OH strip club arrest that her lawyer slammed as a "politically motivated" setup against the woman suing President Donald Trump.

While it's unclear what charges, if any, Daniels may face following her arrest, it may relate to a 2007 state law called the Community Defense Act that prohibits dancers from touching customers and vice versa - excluding immediate family members. "We will fight all bogus charges", Avenatti wrote.

U.S. media tweeted a mugshot of Ms Daniels, purportedly from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office in Columbus.

She is locked in a legal battle with Cohen and Trump to void the nondisclosure agreement formally barring her from speaking about the alleged affair.

Police approached Daniels, who was topless and wearing a G-string, after she was seen "using her bare breasts to smack the patrons" and "fondling the breasts of the female patrons", according to an incident report published online by a local news outlet.

Prosecutors in Columbus, Ohio moved to dismissed their case against adult film star Stormy Daniels, according to court documents shared by Daniels' attorney Michael Avenatti.

The law refers to someone "who regularly appears nude or seminude" at a club.

He said Daniels was arrested for allegedly allowing a customer to touch her in a non-sexual way while on stage. There has to be higher priorities!

Columbus police tell CBS News they're not aware of Daniels being arrested, and as of early Thursday, Daniels wasn't being held by the Franklin County Sheriff's Department. "Are you kidding me?"

"They are devoting law enforcement resources to sting operations for this?" Columbus Police confirmed to the Columbus Dispatch the law is rarely enforced in the state of OH despite being on the books for the past 11 years.

A fourth officer, who was not touched, called for assistance to arrest Daniels and two others: Miranda Panda, of Marion, and Brittany Walters, of Pickerington.

Her attorney, Michael Avenatti, took to Twitter immediately to rail against the whole thing, calling the arrest a "setup" and saying it was "politically motivated".

Police said two other women were arrested along with Daniels. Trump has denied the affair happened. Before the election, she was paid $130,000 to stay silent in a deal handled by Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen.

Daniels has been on tour since last winter, appearing at strip clubs across the United States, and had been due to perform again at Sirens on Thursday night.
