House Committees Will Interview Lisa Page This Week

Mueller removed Strzok from the investigation after he was made aware that the agent exchanged text messages critical of Trump with another FBI official, Lisa Page, with whom Strzok was allegedly having an affair.

Lisa Page, the infamous former Federal Bureau of Investigation lawyer whose anti-Trump texts sparked an outcry against bias in the government, refused Tuesday to testify before Congress and is blaming the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the congressional committees calling for her testimony. President Trump has seized on the Strzok and Page's texts to denounce the Mueller probe as nothing more than a "witch hunt".

Congressional investigators were set for a private interview with Page on Wednesday, but her attorney said Tuesday she did not have time to prepare and would not appear. She resigned from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in May.

If Page doesn't agree to either of these options, the chairmen of the two panels, Judiciary's Bob Goodlatte and Oversight's Trey Gowdy, told her lawyer that she would face contempt of Congress proceedings.

Trump tweeted Wednesday: "Ex-FBI LAYER Lisa Page today defied a House of Representatives issued Subpoena to testify before Congress! She has an obligation to come testify". Amy Jeffress said Page had offered to voluntarily appear before the committees later this month, but needed more clarification about what the lawmakers would be asking. House Republicans have suggested the Federal Bureau of Investigation was conspiring against Trump during and after his presidential campaign, and the two committees are investigating decisions made by the agency and the Justice Department during the election.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) threatened Page that he would enforce the subpoena, but has yet to do so. "The record shows otherwise", Jeffress said in the statement, stressing that Page had already cooperated with the inspector general's probe and one other congressional panel.

Wilshere made his senior debut for Arsenal in 2008, going on to make 197 appearances and winning the FA Cup twice - in 2014 and 2015.

Page was subpoenaed to provide a deposition behind closed doors on Wednesday, but she didn't appear under Jeffress's advice. "But a subpoena to testify before Congress is not optional; it's mandatory".

She has known for months that the House Judiciary Committee has sought her testimony as part of our joint investigation with the Oversight Committee into decisions made by the Justice Department in 2016, and she has no excuse for her failure to appear.

Lisa Page has ignored a subpoena from Congressional investigators who have abandoned the Russian Federation investigation and pivoted to investigating the FBI instead.

Strzok was already interviewed privately by lawmakers on the two committees for 11 hours June 27.

Aiming to discredit the probe, Trump and supporters in Congress have charged that Mueller's team is stacked with Democrats and that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has been opposed to him.
