Liverpool are confident that they will sign Swiss global Xherdan Shaqiri this summer, according to a report in The Guardian.

Stoke's relegation from the Premier League means Shaqiri's exit is a certainty and he is expected to line up with Liverpool's other new recruits, Naby Keita and Fabinho in the next two weeks.

With Switzerland back from the World Cup after being eliminated by Sweden in the Round of 16, negotiations can progress and Shaqiri "has been considering his options since his involvement in Russian Federation was ended".

Kerber of Germany will next face 56th-ranked Belinda Bencic of Switzerland. "I had my chances to win here a few years ago". This is the 44th time Djokovic has reached the fourth round at a Grand Slam, surpassing Jimmy Connors in second place.

Shaqiri has a release clause in his contract which the Daily Telegraph claim is in excess of the £12million figure which has been widely reported. The Potters bought Shaqiri for £12m so they want to make a profit of some sort.

Ojo, who spent previous year helping Fulham win promotion to the Premier League scoring four goals in 22 appearances despite being sidelined for a time by a dislocated shoulder, has impressed already in pre-season.

Stoke are open to offers following their relegation from the Premier League, with Shaqiri unlikely to stick around at a Championship club. Liverpool have been trying to reignite a deal despite a hands-off warning issued before the World Cup.
