London-Defending champion Garbine Muguruza was sensationally knocked out of Wimbledon by journeywoman Alison van Uytvanck on Thursday, leaving just one of the top six seeds left after only two rounds.

The 24-year-old threw her racket against the wall as a victor caught the line for van Uytvanck to level the match.

Two-time major champion Muguruza said: "I think she played big today". That's also why she could develop that kind of level.

"I was ready to play and that is it, nothing to say", she said.

The Romanian won the last 10 games of her match with Zheng Saisai to advance 7-5 6-3 while qualifier Eugenie Bouchard will leave Wimbledon with momentum despite a 6-4 7-5 loss to Ash Barty in a battle of former Wimbledon junior champions.

Van Uytvanck stormed back to beat Muguruza 5-7, 6-2, 6-1.

"Of course I wanted to play on the bigger court, it's always my preference but to say something now makes no sense. That's important because the support made us feel good".

John Isner, the U.S. ninth seed, saved two match points, fired 64 aces and 88 winners to defeat Belgian qualifier Ruben Bemelmans 6-1, 6-4, 6-7 (6/8), 6-7 (3/7), 7-5.

The Public Security Intelligence Agency continued to monitor the groups, believing they were still under the influence of Asahara. During his trial, Asahara often used diapers and sat on a cushion meant to make his incontinence inconspicuous.

The French Open champion said: "I think there are very good thoughts because I came back after 5-3 down". A Kyrgios duel against another Australian who has courted controversy, Bernard Tomic, won't materialize after the lucky loser lost to 2014 US Open finalist Kei Nishikori in four sets.

Italian Fabbiano saved three set points against three-times grand-slam victor Wawrinka in the second set to advance to the third round of a major for just the second time in his career.

"Inside I was dying, especially serving out for the match", said Van Uytvanck, who will now meet 28th seed Anett Kontaveit in the third round.

Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal moved a step closer to reaching a first Wimbledon quarterfinal since 2011 when he saw off the big-hitting Mikhail Kukushkin 6-4 6-3 6-4.

Bencic saved four match points in a second-set tie-break before going on to defeat Riske 1-6 7-6 (12-10) 6-2.

When rain forced the tie to be postponed on Wednesday, Cilic was leading by two sets against an opponent who had never won a match at Wimbledon before this year. "It seems like it's nothing major". Her maiden slam win at this year's Roland Garros has provided the Romanian with all the confidence she needed to push through the grass slam.

Cilic [No.3] joins other ousted top 10 players like Grigor Dimitrov [No.6], Dominic Thiem [No.7], and David Goffin [N0.10] to have been sent packing from SW19 in the first four days of action.

Nick Kyrgios, seeded 15, unleashed 42 winners to see off Robin Haase of the Netherlands 6-3, 6-4, 7-5.
