Idris Elba to Play Villain in Fast & Furious Spin-Off Hobbs & Shaw

In particular, he'll be heading to the Hobbs and Shaw spin-off film, that's going to star Dwayne Johnson and The Statham. Behind the camera is David Leitch, of John Wick, Atomic Blonde, and Deadpool 2 fame.

Hobbs and Shaw is now in pre-production, and is scheduled to begin filming soon, but it just isn't soon enough. The actor's recent credits include In the Long Run, Avengers: Infinity War, Thor: Ragnarok, Molly's Game, and The Dark Tower.

According to Variety, Johnson and Statham will be reprising their roles as special agent Luke Hobbs and criminal mastermind Deckard Shaw, and production will begin this fall.

Elba may generally play the hero, but he has portrayed villains before in Star Trek Beyond and Disney's live-action The Jungle Book, where he played Shere Khan.
