US President Donald Trump said the United States would be at war with North Korea "if not for me" and his relationship with leader Kim Jong-un - even as reports say the regime continues to work to develop its nuclear arsenal.

USA officials also said they were not convinced that North Korea was stopping missile production and testing.

"Many good conversations with North Korea-it is going well!". All of Asia is thrilled. The improvements include several new buildings and modifications to the plutonium production reactor's cooling system.

"We're very well aware of North Korea's patterns of behavior over decades of negotiating with the United States", he said.

Tensions have calmed significantly, culminating in Trump's meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore last month. While supporting a number of UN Security Council sanctions on North Korea, Moscow cautioned that the US-led drills are "provoking" Kim Jong-un into striving for new weapons. "I'm sure that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be discussing this with the North Koreans in the near future about really how to dismantle all of their WMD and ballistic missile programs in a year", Bolton said.

Satellite images taken nine days after the Singapore summit showed North Korea continuing to build on the infrastructure at a key nuclear reactor.

Speaking on national television on Sunday, national security adviser John Bolton spoke about the idea of denuclearization for the North.

John Bolton, Trump's national security advisor, said on Sunday that the USA plans for North Korea to dismantle its chemical, biological, nuclear, and ballistic missile programs in a year's time. North Korea's state-run media marked the occasion this year with overwhelming praise.

Trump is no fan of the United Nations, having recently withdrawn from the UN Human Rights Council, but he probably can't wait to show off the luxurious accommodations at Trump Tower-and stick it to NY commuters in the process.

Despite the lack of such verifiable activities in his deal, Trump has already fulfilled some of his promises to North Korea, including cancelling military exercises with South Korea. He also said Trump and Kim should decide whether to move the nuclear weapons out of North Korea to dismantle them or do it inside the country. A leaked USA intelligence report and an analysis of satellite data suggest the North may be continuing its nuclear and missile activities.

The images showed North Korea finishing construction on the exterior of the plant around the time Kim was meeting with Trump, the report said. "This is going to be a long process and it's going to be phased and if we succeed, it's going to take a long time". He warned this would only be possible with "full cooperation" from North Korea.
