Scarlett Johansson is under fire for accepting a trans male role in the upcoming film Rub & Tug only a year after playing a character that perhaps belonged to an Asian, Deadline reports.

And now that the pair have joined forces again to work on another controversial project - where Johansson will play massage parlour owner Dante "Tex" Gill - naturally fans were outraged.

Run & Tug will start production early next years, a few months before Avengers 4 hits screen and finally reveals who will live and die or be reborn as teh entire MCU heads into Phase 4.

Tell them that they can be directed to Jeffrey Tambor, Jared Leto, and Felicity Huffman's reps for comment. I do think casting directors should look for actors that fit the character's description.

Apparently Kawhi Leonard isn't interested in the Celtics scenario
Players like Kentavous Caldwell-Pope, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, and Rajon Rondo are all quality pickups. Again, we can not underestimate how significant it is that LeBron James is now a Laker.

"No offense to Scarlett Johansson but there are many handsome trans women in the world, and I MEAN ask Hollywood to keep looking!" someone said. But since he was transgender - and Hollywood wants to show that he wasn't really a man - a woman got cast in the role.

Johansson is clearly referencing Jeffrey Tambor's Golden Globe winning performance as a transgender woman on Amazon's Transparent as well as Jared Leto's Academy Award winning performance as a transgender woman in Dallas Buyers Club and Felicity Huffman's Academy Award nominated performance in Transamerica. Trans actors and advocates were quick to denounce the casting for both giving trans roles to cisgender actors and stealing "our narrative".

Gary Spinelli wrote the script and the movie will be produced by Joel Silver, Tobey Maguire, Johansson, Matthew Plouffe, Spinelli, and Jonathan Lia.

The news of Johansson's casting as Gill has been met with protests, with online commentators arguing that the role should have gone to an actual transgender actor - see a selection of the responses to her casting below.
