Arsenal will play their first friendly against Atletico Madrid in Singapore on July 26, before starting their 2018-19 season with a mouthwatering clash against Manchester City on August 11.

Having spent an initial £19million on Germany worldwide Bernd Leno, it appears nearly certain that the 26-year-old will begin the new campaign as Emery's first choice between the sticks.

Arsenal players who failed to qualify for the World Cup or were not selected to represent their national teams were present today, with new signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos alongside the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Aaron Ramsey.

Arsene Wenger ditched his experiment with a back five early last season and there is no suggestion Emery will employ anything other than a traditional flat back four.

The 2017-18 season, in particular, was one to forget for Gomes, who managed a mere 10 starts across all competitions.

England global defender Calum Chambers is willing to battle to gain a first choice place at Arsenal after signing a long term contract on Tuesday.

The Independent, as quoted by talkSPORT, is reporting that the north London side are eying a deal to bring the 24-year-old Portuguese midfielder to The Emirates this summer.

The Gunners said on Tuesday that Chambers signed a "long-term" contract but did not provide further details.
