The announcement comes as Trump slammed the Democrats via Twitter for wanting to get rid of ICE. They target criminal organizations whose crimes cross the border.

"Well, I hope they keep thinking about it", Trump said.

It was unclear which towns Trump was referring to, and neither the White House nor ICE immediately responded to requests for clarification Saturday. All it's going to do is lead to massive, massive crime.

"Between Maxine Waters and Nancy Pelosi and getting rid of ICE and having open borders and the biggest thing - you have open borders".

It has grown into a major movement. "We're hearing 'abolish ICE.'" Huntsman asked again if this is a "winning message" for Democrats. On Saturday, tens of thousands of people marched in cities across the country with the same rallying cry.

"I think what has to change are the policies, and the people that are making these policies are making horrendous decisions like separating kids from their parents", she said. "They are great!" the president added.

Which raises an interesting question: Just how far should candidates for Congress go, and is it really a problem if all their ideas aren't immediately practical? "Minors were subsequently turned over to the Department of Health and Human Services who would then place them with a parent or family friend in the USA until the parent who brought them into the country either had his or her charges dropped or served jail time".

But the plurality - 44 percent - backed the government's current position: that the families be held together in detention centers until their immigration hearings and then be deported or allowed to stay.

The Trump Administration isn't backing down.

That is based on a complicated set of court cases.

Authorities later said 30 protestors were arrested.

Finally. A Democrat with a little bit of sense.

An Inspector General's report published this week by the Department of Homeland Security, the federal agency in which ICE is housed, found that ICE does an inadequate job of inspecting and maintaining its facilities, and fails to correct poor practices.

A Guatemalan father and son, who crossed the U.S. -Mexico border illegally, are escorted down a hill by a U.S. Border Patrol agent Thursday, June 28, 2018, in San Diego.

Mr. Trump this weekend offered his full support for ICE.

The officers suggested that ICE be dissolved and its work divided among two new separate agencies, one focused on HSI and one focused on Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO)-the unit which has enforced President Donald Trump's hardline immigration policy.

An ICE spokesman could not be reached for comment on this story, but during a stop in North Dakota this week, Trump warned that if ICE were eliminated, the country would be "overrun with the worst criminal elements you have ever seen". Next it will be all police. "Zero chance, It will never happen!"
