But on Friday, quietly and without ceremony, that bust was replaced at the request of Ronaldo's family. But some aren't happy with the replacement.

The sculpture of the Portugal and Real Madrid forward gained worldwide attention when it was installed previous year at the airport, which is also known as Cristiano Ronaldo Madeira International Airport. Yet despite the update, fans are still disappointed with the bust.

The sculpture of the Real Madrid forward gained worldwide notoriety, and received plenty of ridicule, when it was placed a year ago as the airport was renamed for Ronaldo shortly after the five-time Ballon d'Or victor captained Portugal to Euro 2016 glory. As FFT discovered ourselves, they are very much correct.

Still others were upset that the original statue was replaced in the first place, including those who live close to it.

Oppo Find X hands on review
It's an AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2440 x 1080 and it's about as good as you'd expect a Full HD panel to be. This system will function similar to that of Apple's Face ID , using facial dot recognition to secure the handset.

Some compared its likeness to ex-Republic of Ireland captain, Niall Quinn, yet sculptor Emanuel Santos said his work was just "a matter of taste".

A petition has been launched online calling for the "immediate return" of the former bust, which it describes as "an attraction for our island". "But in any case, we have the old one saved". The original statue is beloved for being so wrong, and the new statue doesn't have many fans won over yet either.
